23 Flocked Christmas Trees Decorated in Every Color and Style

23 flocked Christmas trees decorated by real decorators, from gold and natural magnolia trees to red plaid, blue chinoiserie, pink and colorful vintage looks.

A flocked Christmas tree already looks like it came in from a snowy field, so half the decorating is done before you open a single ornament box. The hard part is choosing a look, because nearly every color works on white branches. I wanted to see how real people decorate theirs at home, not in a store display.

Here are 23 flocked Christmas trees decorated by 21 bloggers and designers, grouped by color. There are cozy neutral and natural trees with magnolia and dried hydrangeas, red plaid and peppermint trees, blue and white chinoiserie trees, and a few happy pink and vintage ones. Each one links to the person who decorated it, with their supplies and tips. If you like a theme tree, our nostalgic Christmas tree ideas and pink Christmas tree ideas are full of more.

Neutral, natural and metallic flocked trees

1. Bronze, copper and gold garden style tree

Credit: Stacy Ling

Stacy Ling is a master gardener, and you can tell. Her foyer tree is a 7.5 foot King Flock dressed only in golds, bronze and silver, so the whole thing reads tone on tone instead of busy.

She topped it with a simple gold star and finished the bottom with a ruffled crocheted skirt her niece made plus a hammered gold tree collar. The brown paper packages underneath keep the warm, natural look going all the way to the floor.

2. Magnolia leaves and dried hydrangeas from the garden

Credit: Cottage On Bunker Hill

This is my favorite idea on the whole list for a homestead house. Cottage On Bunker Hill tucked real magnolia leaf stems straight into her flocked tree, turned so the velvety brown backs show, and dried faded hydrangeas from her own garden in between.

Copper glittery pinecones, gold feathers and vintage gold velvet ribbon finish it. If you dried hydrangeas this fall, this is where they belong.

3. Gold and white with owls and glitter picks

Credit: Four Generations One Roof

Four Generations One Roof reused most of her rustic Christmas decorations from past years to save money, then added a handful of new ornaments and a few white owls from Pottery Barn.

Skip the star if you want. She made her topper from glitter tree picks placed around the top with hanging bells, and she suggests matching your tree colors to the mantel and sofa beside it.

4. White and copper with fur ribbon and a black anchor

Credit: The Crafty Blog Stalker

The Crafty Blog Stalker cut white fur ribbon from Hobby Lobby into 12 to 18 inch pieces and wove them into a 7 foot flocked tree, then added a thin copper bead garland.

She hung white and copper balls one color at a time so the balance stays even. A few black ornaments at the end ground the whole design, and black gift wrap underneath ties it together.

5. Neutral tree with brass bells and a gold star

Credit: Setting for Four

Setting for Four kept her flocked tree soft and neutral with white, cream and gold ornaments, a star topper and brass bells on the wall behind it.

Her post is really about the setup, and it is worth reading before you open the box. Lay an old sheet under the stand, keep the vacuum handy, and do not unwrap or fluff each section until it is attached, so most of the flocking lands on the sheet instead of your floor.

6. A snowier tree from an old microfiber duster

Credit: Craftberry Bush

Craftberry Bush made her flocked tree look even snowier with a trick I never would have thought of. She pulled the fluffy heads off an old microfiber duster and tucked them into the branches like clumps of fresh snow.

Instead of ribbon she used an old gold vine from Michaels, and every ornament on the tree was something she already owned from past years.

7. Winter wonderland with thrifted ice skates

Credit: Lolly Jane

Lolly Jane found vintage ice skates at a thrift store for a few dollars and built the whole tree around them. She started with three strands of chunky pom pom garland, which filled the tree so well there were only a few spots left for ornaments.

Then she tucked in winter things from around the house, a nutcracker, a toy train and a chalk Merry Christmas sign. She also suggests rolling yard pinecones in glue and glitter.

8. Teal, gold and green with a felt ball garland

Credit: Inspired by Charm

Inspired by Charm built this frosty modern tree around one box of glass ornaments from TJ Maxx in golds, greens and teals.

She mixed them with what she already had, white painted balls, glass pinecones and glass finials, and swapped her usual wide ribbon for a slender shimmering one. A felt ball garland adds soft color without crowding the snow.

9. Simple silver with big old fashioned bulbs

Credit: Tag and Tibby

Tag and Tibby went for less. She hung 200 large LED bulbs with an old fashioned shape on an 8 foot flocked tree and stopped there, because she likes the softer glow of fewer lights.

The ornaments are a big pack of silver balls from IKEA plus 10 geometric silver ones from Target at 1 dollar each. It is proof that a flocked tree looks finished with very little on it.

10. Rose gold and silver from one ornament set

Credit: The Sweetest Digs

The Sweetest Digs wanted a classic look instead of her usual mix of sentimental ornaments, so she bought one case of 75 shatterproof ornaments in rose gold and silver at Home Depot.

Buying one coordinated set means everything matches without any planning, and shatterproof balls mean the kids can rearrange them as much as they like.

11. Warm metallics with soft blush

Credit: Love Your Abode

Love Your Abode did not have a plan until the boxes came down from storage. She settled on warm metallic gold with soft blush hues on her 8 foot pre lit flocked tree with 550 warm LED lights.

The feathery topper and the white stockings on the dark mantel next to it make the blush look rich instead of sweet.

Red, plaid and peppermint flocked trees

12. Snow dusted red plaid ribbon and wood beads

Credit: Weekend Craft

Weekend Craft found a red and black flannel plaid ribbon at Michaels that was already speckled with snow, a perfect match for a flocked tree. It took one and a half rolls of the 3.5 inch wired ribbon.

She left room between the ribbon for three strands of red wooden beads, then added red mercury glass ornaments she bought on clearance and a giant star ornament repurposed as the topper.

13. Buffalo check with gnomes on a slim tree

Credit: Savvy Saving Couple

Savvy Saving Couple used a slender flocked spruce from Target and skipped garland completely. Instead she packed it with matte and glitter red balls, white stars, buffalo check ornaments and little gnomes.

Some of the gnomes were 5 dollars at TJ Maxx and some were 1 dollar at Dollar General. A snowflake and a big red plaid bow make the double topper.

14. Black and white plaid scarves instead of ribbon

Credit: Tag and Tibby

When ribbon felt too stiff, Tag and Tibby wrapped her flocked tree in charcoal flannel scarves from the men’s section at Old Navy. She folded each one in half lengthwise and looped them around the tree from top to bottom.

Seven scarves covered her 8 foot tree. Green ball ornaments, picked to match an antique green train on her fireplace, give the neutral tree its pop of color.

15. Candy cane red and white with poinsettias

Credit: Jeanie Pence

Jeanie Pence shares a whole group of candy themed trees, and this flocked one shows how far a red and white palette can go. It is layered with striped ribbon, poinsettias, candy cane picks and Santa ornaments.

The white branches act like the white stripe in a peppermint, so the red really pops. A matching wreath on the window and a gingerbread house on the table finish the look.

Blue and white flocked trees

16. Navy velvet and aqua with blue poinsettias

Credit: Our Crafty Mom

Our Crafty Mom picked navy and aqua because she knew both would pop against the snow. She used navy velvet ribbon, aqua deco mesh, blue, white and silver ornaments and hand painted chinoiserie balls.

Large navy velvet poinsettias finish the tree, and a seagrass tree collar from Michaels hides the stand.

17. Blue spindle ornaments and iridescent glass

Credit: Sonata Home Design

Sonata Home Design hung long spindle shaped ornaments in shades of blue so they drip from the snowy branches like icicles. She says white and clear iridescent ornaments are her secret weapon for keeping it light.

She mixed in her own DIY decoupage ornaments and blue velvet picks, and made the topper by gathering several of those picks together.

18. Chinoiserie blue, white and gold on a slim tree

Credit: Our Hopeful Home

Our Hopeful Home chose a 7 foot slim flocked fir with 300 warm white LED lights for her first pencil tree. Blue and white chinoiserie ornaments, gold balls and blue berry stems match the ginger jars on the shelf beside it.

She noticed that extra large balls make a big impact on a slim tree, so do not be shy about size.

19. A Wedgwood blue flocked tree

If white feels too plain, Southern Nell’s shows a flocked tree that is blue all the way through, a clear periwinkle she chose because it was a beloved family member’s favorite color.

She finished it with blue, white and gold vintage style ornaments. Her tip for any flocked tree is to set it up on a sheet so the cleanup is easy.

Pink, colorful and vintage flocked trees

20. Pink velvet and gold mesh with a pink nutcracker

For a romantic look, Our Crafty Mom used pink velvet ribbon and gold mesh on a heavily flocked 6.5 foot slim tree, with handmade ornaments and blush and gold balls.

A pink nutcracker her daughter found at Michaels is the little detail everyone notices.

21. Pink, gold and little houses on a skinny tree

Credit: Classy Clutter

Classy Clutter shopped with her color scheme in mind and bought ornaments and picks in odd numbers, usually five of each. Pink and gold glitter mesh ribbon, pink florals and shatterproof balls fill the tree.

She started with a few oversized pieces first, a Tis the Season sign and silver house ornaments, then filled in around them.

22. Colorful vintage style with a thrifted topper

Credit: The Craft Patch

The Craft Patch built this whole happy tree around a vintage Shiny Brite topper she found at a thrift store for 1.99 dollars. The big ornaments that look like old Shiny Brites came from Michaels.

Pinks, greens, reds and teals look extra bright against the snowy branches. She also tucks a towel under the tree stand so she can slide it out from the wall while she decorates.

23. Rainbow order with gold tinsel

Credit: At Home With Ashley

At Home With Ashley hung glass ornaments in rainbow order on her softly flocked white tree, pink, then gold, then green, then blue from top to bottom.

Gold tinsel garland and starburst ornaments make it feel retro. A white tasseled tree skirt with colorful tassels finishes the bottom.

How to decorate a flocked Christmas tree

Set it up on a sheet. Flocking sheds the most when the tree is first unboxed and fluffed, so lay an old sheet or shower curtain under the stand and keep the vacuum close.

Pick one palette and stick to it. White branches make every color brighter, so two or three colors plus one metal is plenty.

Leave some snow showing. A flocked tree is the backdrop, so space the ornaments out and do not pack every branch.

Use warm white lights. Cool white can look blue against the flocking, while warm white gives that cozy glow most of the trees on this list share.

Add one natural thing. Pinecones, dried hydrangeas, magnolia leaves or a wood bead garland keep a white tree from feeling cold.

Flocked Christmas tree FAQ

What color decorations look best on a flocked tree? Almost anything works because the white is neutral. Gold, copper and cream give a warm, cozy look, red and plaid feel classic, blue and white feel crisp, and pinks and bright vintage colors look extra cheerful against the snow.

Do flocked trees make a mess? They shed the most during setup and the first week. Attach each section before you unwrap and fluff it, set the tree up on a sheet, and vacuum once it is done. After that, most good trees shed very little.

Should I use ribbon on a flocked tree? Yes, ribbon fills a flocked tree nicely. Velvet, plaid flannel and glitter mesh all work, and flannel scarves are a soft, budget friendly swap if ribbon feels too stiff.

Can I put real greenery on a flocked tree? Yes. Magnolia stems, dried hydrangeas, eucalyptus and pinecones all tuck right into the branches. Use dried or long lasting stems so nothing wilts or drips onto the flocking.

What lights go best on a flocked tree? Warm white lights are the favorite because they make the white branches glow instead of looking blue. Big old fashioned bulbs work well on a simple modern tree.
